Sitting Pretty

You’ve booked a gorgeous venue, have an amazing dress, the ceremony is set up to perfection and the tables are dressed and ready for guests to wine and dine. But what are they sitting in? Banquet chairs? Plastic chairs? Or luxe Chivari chairs?

Chiavari chairs are named for the Italian city where they originated. This little town, located between Genoa and the Cinque Terre, began producing these chairs at the beginning of the 19th century. It was here in 1795 that the Descalzi brothers opened their famous furniture workshop. In 1807, Gaetano Descalzi designed a light, elegant, yet solid, cherry wood chair – the chair Chiavarine.

The chair jumped from the dining room to the ballroom – and has become the classic wedding chair. From White House events to weddings all over the country, this chair is the workhorse of event chairs. The Chivari has inspired its share of designers and several versions now exist.

Here at Los Willows we offer our stunning white washed Chivari chairs with ivory chair pads. They give a sophisticated and luxe feel. They go with any theme from more rustic and natural to more elegant and over the top.

When looking for a venue ask to see their reception chairs. What will you and your guests be sitting in? What kind of look does it convey?
